WHY DO I NEED A REGISTERED MAINE GUIDE?

First off, a registered Maine Guide is tested and licensed by the State of Maine. The applicant must be well versed in the areas in which he or she will be tested in. They are tested by Maine State Wardens and Maine State Marine Wardens dependent on the physical area in which the applicant wishes to work. The tests are both written and oral.

Well over 75% of the applicants fail the test on the first try.
An applicant can be tested in areas such as compass, maps, lost person, camping, canoeing, white water rafting, inland fishing, tidal fishing, hunting, and sea kayaking.

A Maine Guide will be able to advise and teach you about aspects of the Maine wilderness that you may not be aware of. Trial and error is not the way to learn about the wilderness. Too many times a person has gone off and gotten lost, hurt and or killed because they were not experienced enough to attempt their journey.
The Maine Guide can make a person's journey a safe, educational, happy, and pleasant trip. Based on fishing, a Maine Guide should be more likely to get you to better fishing areas then if you went by yourself.

We at My Maine Adventure strive to meet all the needs of our clients and their parties.

WHAT IF SOMEONE GETS HURT?

This is one of the major reasons we need the medical forms filled out; we need to be made aware of any pre existing medical issues, so that we can help treat the individual to the best of our ability.

Jim is Red Cross certified in first aid treatment. In all cases, we will have the phone number of the closest hospital and or clinic in the area. But please keep in mind that we do travel in areas that don't have telephone or radio reception.
